Congratulations to IMG client Luke Donald who made golf history recently by becoming the first player to win the money lists on both the PGA and European Tours. Donald clinched the feat with a third place finish at the Dubai World Championship.
In his outstanding 2011 season, that saw him earn four victories world-wide and take over the number one spot in the Official World Golf Rankings, Donald finished atop the PGA Tour money list with $6.68 Million and boosted his earnings on the European Tour to $7.1 Million yesterday. He has remained the top-rated golfer in the world for 28 weeks, giving him the eighth-longest tenure at No. 1.
“It is difficult to sum up my emotions right now. I have wanted this for some months now and obviously, my come-from-behind win in Disney made this all possible,” said Donald. “I looked up at the leader board for the first time on the 13th hole. The leaders were playing well and at that point I knew that I had made history. The last six holes were surreal after that. The pressure just went away and I was able to enjoy myself and have a few smiles. I came here to win the Race to Dubai and I managed to do that.”
