Race car driver and IMG client Danica Patrick is looking to make her NASCAR Sprint Cup debut today after a frustrating weekend rain delay, the first ever in the event’s 54-year history. The 500-mile race is scheduled to air today at noon ET on FOX.
The Daytona 500 is the first of 10 scheduled Sprint Cup Series events for Patrick, who left IndyCar behind for a full-time move to NASCAR. She will race for the Nationwide Series championship driving for JR Motorsports.
One of the most recognizable athletes in the world, Patrick will begin today’s race in 29th position. In the Q Score ratings, which measure the consumer appeal of athletes, celebrities and brands, Patrick has the highest ranking of all active drivers.
“There’s nerves,” she said of her debut. “There are a lot of things that are unknown. But overall I’m feeling as comfortable as I could imagine. I’m ready.”
